MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon football team is looking to end its season on a high note. The Yellow Jackets started the season strong, but have lost their last three games.
But, to snap that streak, the Jackets must face the three-headed monster of New Albany this Friday at 7:30 p.m. at New Albany.
The Eagles have been running over teams, winning seven straight games and grabbing a share of the Ohio Capital Conference Capital Division title in the process. The wins have been behind the strong running of Alan Watson, Leslie Anoyke and quarterback Darron Lee.
“They are really good. They have a good tailback, a good fullback and a good quarterback. They all three can run fast,” said Mount Vernon coach Anthony Naples. “They are very good at setting up their blocks and seeing the holes. They have a very good running game.
“We can’t pick just one (to stop). We have to take care of all three. We have to be disciplined, read our keys and attack the play being run.”
