HOWARD — The Danville Blue Devils (9-1, 7-0 MBC) locked up an unbeaten Mid-Buckeye Conference season and a No. 1 seed in Region 23 — not to mention their seventh straight Devil-Dog trophy — with a 46-21 shellacking of East Knox at Chet Looney Stadium on Saturday.

Danville quarterback Bryce Staats connected on 14 out of 29 passes for 282 yards and four touchdowns. His performance gave him a final regular-season tally of 2,034 yards passing — a Danville single-season record — and 1,063 yards rushing.

Staats connected with Austin Hazen for two touchdowns in the first quarter. Corey Geog caught one in the second quarter, then scored on a 48-yard pass play in the fourth.

Dylan Wears had 20 carries for 193 yards for the Bulldogs (5-5, 3-4 MBC), who were eliminated from playoff contention with the loss.
