HOWARD — Down by seven with less than four minutes to play, the host East Knox Bulldogs knocked down the final nine points of the game to stun the Northridge Vikings, 66-64, in their Mid-Buckeye Conference clash on Tuesday evening.
East Knox guard Taylor Moser (16 points) scored on a putback with a little over three minutes to go to start the Bulldogs’ late charge. Teammate David Judson (16 points, seven rebounds) hit a quick pair of buckets with 1 1/2 minutes to go, drawing the Bulldogs to within a point. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, Judson fouled out with 33 seconds left in the game, putting Northridge guard Chad Campbell (17 points) up at the foul line for two shots.
Campbell missed both shots and East Knox wrestled to get the ball back. This time, Moser drove the lane, breezing past Northridge’s high-scoring guard Gavin Shank to go underneath to hit the go-ahead layup with 15 seconds left.
“I really just saw the lane and took it,” said Moser. “Coach (Jim Davis) says to take good shots. ‘If you don’t get the good shots, take the great shots.’”
