UTICA — At the opening tip, the referee blew the play dead when a Utica player touched the toss too early, awarding the ball to Fredericktown.
For the Redskins, it was all downhill from there.
Fredericktown went on to score the first 23 points of Tuesday’s game to cruise to an easy road victory. The 45-29 final score reflected both the Freddies’ tremendous start and Utica’s refusal to give up in the second half.
Fredericktown (4-0, 2-0 Mid-Buckeye Conference) controlled both sides of the court in the first half. Utica (0-3, 0-2 MBC) missed its first 14 shots while getting just one offensive rebound. The opportunities allowed the Freddies to score quickly in transition. Ryan Logan, who led both teams with 22 points and 13 rebounds, had six quick points including two dunks in the first. Michael Miller and Nash Cunningham each had two buckets as well to give Fredericktown a 16-0 first period lead.
