FREDERICKTOWN — Ryan Logan put on a dunking show, pacing the undefeated Fredericktown Freddies to a 58-31 victory over the Loudonville Redbirds at home in Mid-Buckeye Conference action.
Logan finished the game with 19 points including four dunks, all of which helped keep momentum on the Freddies’ side throughout the game.
Michael Miller opened Friday’s contest with a 3-pointer for the Freddies. Austin Hathaway (seven points, five assists) followed with a 3 of his own and Logan hit an inside shot to give the Freddies a quick 8-0 lead. Fredericktown shot 23-for-42 from the floor for the game, including five 3-pointers. Then, the Freddies turned on their aggressive defense and good rebounding, landing 24 rebounds for the game.
“We jumped off to a good start, defensively,” said Fredericktown coach Mark DeLaney. “That’s what our staple is — getting stops in the half court.”
Nash Cunningham hit a bucket to end the quarter and Hathaway hit another at the start of the second quarter to put the Freddies up, 16-5.
“I tried to get as many rebounds as I could and tried to get transition baskets,” said Cunningham, who had 10 points. “We always come out in the first half and try to get a big lead and keep adding onto it. We come out running and try to catch them off guard.”
