HOWARD — A clutch shot tied the same. An even more clutch shot won it.
Highland’s Jett Swetland drained a 3-pointer with 8 seconds remaining in regulation to tie Saturday’s game at East Knox. However, the Bulldogs’ Demetrius Susi hit a 3 of his own as time expired to give his team a 53-50 victory in nonconference play.
“I’ve been in games like this before, with endings like this,” East Knox head coach Jim Davis told the News. “Knock on wood, I’ve never been on the losing end of one.”
Susi’s shot came following a timeout. Kiyaan Wright dribbled the ball upcourt, splitting two Highland defenders with a cross dribble. Wright found Susi up top, standing behind the three-point line. Susi’s shot went through just as the buzzer sounded.
