MOUNT VERNON — It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
The Mount Vernon boys basketball team may have felt like it was in the Charles Dickens’ classic, “A Tale of Two Cities,” on Tuesday.
The Yellow Jackets had a great first half against Olentangy, but watched as things turned sour in a hurry in the second half. After holding the Braves to just 19 points in the first half, Mount Vernon allowed 50 in the second and dropped a 69-58 Ohio Capital Conference decision to the visiting Braves.
“In the first half, we were able to get back and get our defense set up. We gave up just 19. But, in the second, we didn’t get set and we gave up 50,” said Mount Vernon coach Kurt Kaufman. “We got caught up in their game. We shot the ball quick and it became a full-court game rather than the half-court game we like.”
