FREDERICKTOWN — The Danville Blue Devils entered Tuesday’s showdown with a chance to share the Mid-Buckeye Conference lead.
The Fredericktown Freddies wanted no part of that.
Instead, the Freddies went on a 30-7 run during the first half to take an overwhelming lead. Despite the Blue Devils’ best efforts in the second half, Fredericktown walked off their home court with a 54-37 victory and a two-game lead in conference play.
The Freddies hit their shots when they needed them in the first half. The team shot 50 percent from the field (12-for-24) as well as three-point range (3-for-6). Fredericktown also went 10-for-12 from the free-throw line.
Danville, conversely, had one of its worst shooting halves of the season, going 7-for-22 (31.8 percent) from the field and 4-for-10 from the charity stripe.
