UTICA — Utica had all the right moves Friday.
The Redskins used a stout defensive effort and added in an efficient offense to post a 48-22 victory over visiting Centerburg in Mid-Buckeye Conference boys basketball action.
“The kids came out and played hard. Our effort was great and we did all the little things. We communicated, we helped on screens, we moved our feet,” said Utica coach Brian Radabaugh. “(Tyler) Stoyle is a good player. He back-doored us a couple times early. But, other than that, we did a good job of not letting them get their offense going.”
Centerburg (5-7 overall, 3-4 MBC) was able to get a couple of its patented back-door cuts for points early in the game, but Utica solved that defensive issue quickly and turned the game on its ear.
The Redskins (4-7, 4-3) forced Centerburg into eight turnovers and only allowed four shots in the first quarter as they took a 14-7 lead.
