CENTERBURG — The Centerburg Trojans greeted the visiting Northridge Vikings with a barrage of layups and 3-pointers.
With Zac Holsopple (27 points) and Tyler Stoyle (21 points) leading the way, the Trojans stunned the Vikings in the first half and rolled on to a 69-56 win in Mid-Buckeye Conference action on Friday night.
First it was Holsopple, who hit nine points in the first quarter to lead his teammates on a 17-2 run. That run gave the Trojans a 25-12 lead early in the second quarter. Centerburg post Clayton Schaefer added three baskets in the run, including a pair off of Stoyle assists. Stoyle had five assists in the game.
“If I find space, I know that Tyler and those guys are going to find me and that’s the best part about it,” said Holsopple. “If I am there, they find me and all I have to do is finish.”
Stoyle took over soon after that. He grabbed a rebound and went the length of the court to hit a layup to give his team a 27-14 lead. The Trojans shot 26-of-46 (57 percent) from the floor.
