DANVILLE — When a rivalry game has a close finish, it can be the most exciting thing in sports.
When it’s a blowout, it can get downright ugly.
The Danville Blue Devils burst out to a 20-point lead in the second period, then muscled through a physical second half against the scrappy East Knox Bulldogs in Saturday’s 54-34 home victory.
“They were on from the beginning,” said Danville head coach Shane Henry. “This team doesn’t quit. They’re not quitters. They were here when I got here at noon (two hours before tip-off), practicing and shooting baskets. You have to respect that.”
The last time the two Mid-Buckeye Conference rivals played, it was close through the first half. Then Danville ended the suspense and pulled away in the second half, leading to a 30-point victory.
