MOUNT VERNON — The Olentangy Orange Pioneers (14-2, 11-0 OCC) left the city of Mount Vernon just the way they arrived — undefeated in Ohio Capital Conference.
There was little doubt, when the Pioneers rolled into town, that the host Yellow Jackets (10-7, 4-6 OCC) would have their hands full just trying to slow them down. When Orange landed seven 3-pointers in the first quarter and jumped ahead, 27-4, all remaining doubt was removed.
The Pioneers would increase that lead and roll to a 69-21 thumping of the Jackets.
Mount Vernon’s defense could do nothing as the Pioneers were nearly flawless beyond the arc. Maddy Joseph hit her three 3-pointers early in the game, lifting her team to an early 11-2 lead. That accounted for all of her scoring in the game.
