PHILO — Local wrestlers could not make it through Day 1 of the 2013 OHSAA Division III Central District wrestling tournament unblemished.
The good news is that they will all be participating in Day 2. That includes three first-round winners.
Centerburg’s Reed Hensel (152 pounds) took out Ethan Allen of Westfall in the first round on a technical fall, 15-0.
“I kind of knew what I had to do,” said Hensel. “Watching (Allen) warm up, you could tell he was a little lackadaisical about it, so I knew if I shot in quick, I would score.”
“Real good win,” said Centerburg coach Mark McCann. “Good match all the way through. Real aggressive and that’s what it takes to win.”
Later, Alex Quinn of Shadyside took down Hensel in their championship quarterfinal.
