GAHANNA — The girls basketball season came to an end for the Utica Redskins on Thursday night when they ran into more defense than they could handle.

The St. Francis DeSales Stallions used aggressive defense and 17 steals to put down the Redskins, 57-36, in their OHSAA Division II Central District semifinal basketball matchup at Gahanna-Lincoln High School.

The Stallions pulled ahead in the first quarter, 14-7, with a pair of baskets by Maggie Simon (eight points). Teammate Joenyia Herd-Middlebrooks (eight points) also hit a bucket in the opening quarter and assisted Jori Arnold (12 points) on another.
