MOUNT VERNON — Along with several dozen newspapers across the country, the Mount Vernon News will carry this year’s BRACKETBUCKS Basketball Contest in conjunction with the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Grand prize for the contest is up to $25,000.
Pairing and seedings for this year’s tournament were announced Sunday and the contest will appear in the News for the next three days.
Hand-delivered entry forms must be in by noon on Thursday, March 21. Mailed entry forms must be postmarked by Wednesday, March 20.
The object of the game is to amass as many of the 2,000 possible points as you can. Points are accumulated based on the correct predictions on which teams will win the 63 non-first-round tournament games. Team selections must be made before the first tournament game starts on Thursday at noon.
In addition to the overall grand prize winner, a local winner will be named from each sponsoring newspaper. The local winner of $100 will have accumulated the most points from the entries received at the News.
Winners will be announced the week of April 8.
