COLUMBUS — Niki Diguilio, a 2010 graduate of Mount Vernon High School, will participate in the women’s NCAA tournament.
And she won’t be too far from home.
Diguilio, a junior for Central Michigan, will play Saturday in Columbus. The Chippewas, a No. 11 seed, will take on No. 6 seed Oklahoma. The winner faces either UCLA or Stetson in the next round.
Central Michigan won the Mid-American Conference tournament to receive an automatic bid. The Chippewas lost to Eastern Michigan in the league title game a year ago on a last-second shot, but this time they beat Akron comfortably, winning 86-68.
