MOUNT VERNON — It almost seemed like an extended version of Monday’s All-Star three-point shooting contest — at least for the boys.

The 34th Mount Vernon News All-Star Senior Showcase started out raining 3-point shots and looked, at first, like it was going to be a blowout. Eventually, it became one of the better All-Star matches in recent memory in a high-scoring, triple-overtime shootout that gave players on both sides something to shout about.

Despite being down 23-3 in the early going, the Senior-Stars came back to defeat the All-Stars, 130-129.

Most of all, it was plenty of fun had by all.
