MOUNT VERNON — It was just what the doctor ordered.
The Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets got a much-needed complete game three-hitter from pitcher Jayben Martin on Thursday. In the meantime, the Jackets’ offense let loose for 11 hits as they pounded the visiting Big Walnut Eagles, 8-1, in Ohio Capital Conference baseball.
“We wanted to get our feet back underneath us,” said Mount Vernon coach Matt Smith. “We were in a little bit of an offensive slump. We came out and got some runs early and everybody kind of settled down and got back to doing what they are capable of doing.”
