CENTERBURG — Centerburg High School has seen its share of memorable basketball games over the years.

Friday’s games may top them all.

Students and alumni of Centerburg High School took on Centerburg little league coaches and Highland High School students in the third annual Donkey Basketball Event in the high school gym.

The event kicked off the Centerburg Heart of Ohio USA Days Festival, going on through the weekend.

Centerburg’s bravest students took on Highland in the opening game. The contest quickly turned into a battle between the students and their stubborn steeds. Donkeys with names such as “Slowpoke” and “Stupid” meandered around the court with their riders trying desperately to get on and stay on.
