FREDERICKTOWN — A day’s delay and a little bit colder weather didn’t deter area athletes from putting on a show Saturday.

Thunderstorms caused the delay of the Mount Vernon News SpecTrackular until Saturday and then a cold front kept runners and fans bundled up a good bit of the day. But, even with the weather issues, some great times were put up by local athletes.

The cold and wind did nothing to slow down Travis Baldwin of Utica, who rolled to three first-place finishes and a third en route to being named Most Valuable Competitor on the boys’ side.

“It felt good. It was a little cold, but you’ve just got to stay loose and stay stretched. You can still run good in the cold as long as you stay warm,” Baldwin said.
