HOWARD — The East Knox Bulldogs made a statement Monday.
Seeded 13th out of 20 teams, the Bulldogs felt they deserved more respect from the Central District. So they took it out on their opponents — Mid-Buckeye Conference rival Fredericktown.
East Knox came away with a 10-0 run-rule victory on their home field in Division III sectional semifinal softball play.
“They felt like, maybe, they didn’t earn as much respect as they had hoped this year,” said East Knox head coach Danielle McKown. “Well, that’s been a theme for us this year. We’re not going to get it if we don’t earn it.”
Courtney Cole was dominant in the circle for the Bulldogs, allowing four hits and one walk in the complete game shutout. Only once did she allow a baserunner as far as third.
