DANVILLE — The Danville baseball team was an opportunistic bunch Monday.

A couple of Millersport miscues and a couple of breaks gave the Blue Devils the opening they needed in the Division IV sectional tournament at Danville. Then, the Devils turned that inch into a mile and cruised to a 14-1 victory in just five innings of play.

“I was a little nervous going in. Their pitcher does not throw overly hard,” said Danville coach Brian Bratton. “We kept preaching to them — be patient, and when they make a mistake, hit it.”

With the win, the Devils (12-13) will now play host to Ridgedale on Wednesday for a shot to advance to district competition.
