LANCASTER — It was the end of an unforgettable run.

And it was the last game for members of a senior class of Fredericktown Freddies, who have distinguished themselves on and off the field throughout their high school careers.

The Freddies baseball team ended this season with a 5-3 loss in the Division III Central District finals, falling to the Bloom-Carroll Bulldogs on Wednesday at Beavers Field in Lancaster.

“It is tough,” said Fredericktown coach Tom Craze. “These kids played their hearts out. You’ve got to give Bloom-Carroll a lot of credit. They’re a good baseball team. We were two great teams going at it — the top two teams in the Central District.”

Freddies starting pitcher Kevin McClain got out of a two on, two out jam in the opening inning and had a shutout going through three innings.
