The Florida Southern junior claimed golf’s Division II individual national championship Wednesday on the second playoff hole in Hershey, Pa.

“We probably hugged for what seemed like five minutes,’’ his father, Tim Crouch Sr., told the News by phone. “He said to me, ‘I finally did it, Dad.’’’

Crouch, four strokes out of the lead to start the day, fired a 2-under-par 69 to finish the 54-hole, stroke-play portion at 2-under par. He parred the difficult three closing holes to get into a three-way playoff with Matt Atkins of South Carolina-Aiken and Jake Webb of Western Washington.
