Christmas: Follow Santa!

MOUNT VERNON — He was First Team All-Sunshine State Conference. Then he was First Team All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Then Division II National Champion. Then national quarterfinalist in team competition.

It’s been a pretty good year for Tim Crouch.

The junior returned to Mount Vernon over the weekend after a successful season at Florida Southern College. Crouch has a lengthy resume filled with success on the golf course. But the 2013 season has been the best by far.

“Once I knew I had won, I hugged my coach, and my teammates came up to me,” Crouch, a 2010 Mount Vernon High School grad, told the News. “Then, once I saw my parents, I just started crying. It was quite an emotional time.”

Going into the championship tournament, which spanned five days — three days of open play followed by two days of team eliminations — Crouch was ranked eighth in D-II.
