BLADENSBURG — She may only be 15 years old, but Ashley Poff is about to embark on a trip of a lifetime.
The Bladensburg resident will travel to Wyoming on Wednesday to compete in a national high school rodeo event. The event starts on Sunday, July 14, and runs through Saturday, July 20.
Poff was shocked when she heard the news.
“I was blown away,” Ashley Poff said. “I was not expecting to qualify for this event. I was very surprised when my name was called.”
Described as a happy, loving and caring person by her mother Cary, Ashley has been involved with horses since she was four years old. Poff did not believe this was something that was attainable.
“This was something I definitely dreamed of,” Poff said. “Now that reality has set in, I did not think I could do something like this, but here I am.”
