MOUNT VERNON — Expectations are high for the 2013 Mount Vernon 10-year-old All-Stars — especially from their coach.
“We’ve got the growing pains to go through,” said All-Stars coach Brad Bowers. “They certainly have the ability and the talent.”
This Friday, they will really be put to the test when they face the top competition in the area in the District 5 Little League tournament at Cambridge. They will open against the Cambridge 10-year-old All-Stars.
“Our goal this season is to at least get to the state tournament,” said coach Bowers. “That way, as 11- and 12-year-olds they’ll have that under their belt.”
It’s a tall order, but they can measure up.
