MOUNT VERNON — Viewed as a second home among its most frequent visitors, Pacemakers Dragway Park will once again host an event to attract not only its biggest fans, but also some first-time arrivals.
On Saturday evening, the famous race track will host the second annual Baker Memorial Competition. The event is in honor of George and Mary Lou Baker, the parents of competition director David Baker.
“The first time we held this event, it went well for everyone,” David Baker said. “This is an event to bring family and friends together. I spent 2 1/2 years battling cancer myself, and after we had the first event, I decided to have another one. This event will be a points race. There will be plenty of sponsors and prize money available to the drivers.”
For the event to be as successful as possible, there will need to be a lot of cars entered for the event, and Baker is hoping for a large crowd.
