MOUNT VERNON — The Men’s Tuesday Business Golf League at Chapel Hill Golf Course is looking for players. This is a handicapped league for players of all skill levels. Hiawatha Juniors coming up
MOUNT VERNON — The 14th annual Hiawatha Juniors golf tournament will take place on Thursday, June 19, at Hiawatha Golf Course in Mount Vernon. There will be three age groups, 10 to 12, 13 to 15 and 16 to 18. Girls and boys will compete together in their respective age groups. There is a fee, which includes green fee, awards, lunch and tournament gift. Trophies will be awarded to the champion, runner-up, third- and fourth-place winners in each age group. Entries are available at Hiawatha Golf Course. Entry deadline is Friday, June 13.
Centerburg holding physicals
CENTERBURG — Centerburg athletes planning to play a sport during the 2008-09 school year can get their sport physical at school on Wednesday.
Parents should call Pediatric Specialists of Centerburg at 625-5326 to schedule an appointment for Wednesday at the school. Students must then pick up an OHSAA physical form in the office and have their parent fill out and sign the form (no parent signature, no physical). The form may also be downloaded at www.ohsaa.org. Students must bring the form with them the day of the physical. Physicals will start at 8 a.m., and are good for one calendar year. Forms will be kept on file in the athletic office.

Fundraisers to be held
JOHNSTOWN — Northridge football team members will hold a pair of fundraisers in April and May.
Team members will work at Adornetto’s Restaurant, 250 Goosepond Road, Newark, from 4 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29. The team will receive tips plus a percentage of the sales for that night and time period. Money earned will go toward new uniforms, shoulder pads and other equipment for the team.
A golf outing will be held at St. Albans Golf Course, 3833 Northridge Road, Alexandria, on Saturday, May 17, at 8 a.m. There is a fee, which includes 18 holes, golf cart and a steak dinner. There will be a 8 a.m. shotgun start. Money earned will go toward football equipment. The Northridge Athletic Boosters are also looking for businesses to sponsor a hole for the day, and also for donations of prizes to be given away to the golfers.

Camps to be held
MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon Nazarene University head women’s basketball coach Steve Gregory will be conducting the 10th annual Lady Cougar basketball camp this summer. The camp will be held June 16 through 20. It will be a day camp that will include sessions for ages 8 to 14 from 8:30 a.m. to noon and from 1:30 to 5 p.m., and ages 5 to 7 (evening session) from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Several current MVNU basketball stars will return this summer as camp counselors, including: Amanda Himes (AMC South Division Freshman of the Year), along with several other current players. Plus, local high school coaches Doug Savage (Mount Vernon High School) and Dave Logan (Fredericktown High School) will serve as special guest speakers at this year’s camp. Gregory will once again oversee the camp as the director.
There is a fee, which increases if registered after May 31.
