Golf outing coming up

GAMBIER — A golf outing to benefit Tammy Parker will be held on Sunday, Oct. 18, at Tomahawk Golf Course. Tee time is 10 a.m. for the three-club tournament. There is a fee, and each four-person team will be provided 18 holes of golf, cart and lunch. There will also be a Cornhole raffle. All proceeds will help pay Parker’s medical bills. Dodgeball tourney to be held

MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon High School Boys Basketball team will sponsor a Dodge Ball Tournament to benefit the Knox Village Network. The event will take place at the Mount Vernon Middle School on Saturday, Nov. 7, at noon. Teams should be comprised of eight players. There is a fee, and teams will be guaranteed at least three games. There will be middle school and high school/adult divisions. T-shirts will be awarded to the winners of each division. The team with the best uniforms will have their entry fee returned. Registration forms and rules are available from any Mount Vernon High School varsity basketball player or coach Kurt Kaufman at (330) 715-5912. Registration forms and fees must be returned to any varsity basketball player or coach Kaufman at the Mount Vernon High School by Thursday, Nov. 5.

YMCA basketball starting soon

MOUNT VERNON — The YMCA of Mount Vernon is accepting Early Bird sign-ups for preschool and kindergarten basketball leagues. For more information call the YMCA at 392-9622.

  The 2009 Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 28. It forms at the old high school football field at the end of West Gambier Street. It then travels east along Gambier Street, then north on Main Street to Public Square. The procession leaves the staging area around 1:15 p.m. and should arrive at South Main Street at approximately 1:30 p.m.
