It makes no sense, in this last audit on my property, the value showed that it went up, but my insurance agent says my property value is going down. Which is it? The insurance agency sent us a FORM LETTER stating that the value of my property/home is lower than before and will not let us access our line of credit-to avoid helping us responsible property owners from using equity in our home–it’s contradictory and unfair! If this keeps up everyone will be homeless from paying to much tax!! Where’s our Robin Hood to the rescue—-?

The people that are paying low rent are receiving metro housing, and the waiting list is 18 months! Who’s to say that once a shelter is built and people are taught how to interview that the homeless will remain homeless? Who are you to be their judge? WHERE IS THE COMPASSION FOR THE LOST? LESS FORTUNATE? MY DEAR GOD DOESN’T ANYONE CARE ABOUT THE HUMAN SOUL ANYMORE? IT REALLY SADDENS MY HEART TO READ SOME OF THESE ENTRIES BECAUSE IT, ALL BOILES DOWN TO YOUR SELFISH TAX DOLLARS!

What if we build this shelter, we give them education, we buy them clothes, we teach them to interview and a year later the same old people are living in the shelter, do you kick them to the curb???? The same issue with Welfare will be the same issue here, too many ppl are just wanting the hand out and not willing to work for it, why?? they don’t have to. I’m all for giving someone an opportunity, but what do you do when they don’t take advantage of it? Continue to let them live in the shelter on my tax dollar, or send them packing? This week in the paper some of the stories just didn’t add up. Some stated they had family or would visit their parents…why aren’t they staying with their parents? One couple said they were on SSI. I know ppl that manage to live off of SSI alone…so why can’t they? Do they not have their priorities straight? There is a lot of low cost housing in Mt. Vernon. I know ppl that live in the Hawthorne appts and only pay $10 a month rent. On a bare minimum $600 SSI income I still would think you could live in a gov’t subsidized housing for $10 a month. Visit the food pantries in Mt. Vernon for your groceries….I just think they need to put a little more effort into helping themselves. Everyone is struggling right now, and with the economy the way it is. Taxes are going to be going up with the new property evaluation and the new levies that passed, we can’t just keep handing out money. We have to worry about our families and where we might be. Everyone keeps expecting us to give give and give….I’m tired of giving, I can’t give anymore.
