    So correct.

    More than one innocent person has gone to prison because a member of the public had not shared knowledge with law enforcement.

    More than one guilty person has escaped justice for the same reason.

    The public’s cooperation must be an appropriate component in order for law enforcement to effectively do its job.

    There is no doubt that local newspapers still provide a valuable tool to their communities in helping law enforcement fight crime. It may be a bit embarrassing to those whose family members get a bit of publicity for their behavior, but that should be a deterant to further violations of the laws of society.
