Good for Steve Thompson for also recusing himself. As a founding member of “The Community Council For Free Expression” which declares itself to be “a non-profit corporation (which) has developed a Legal Defense Fund to help with John Freshwater‚Äôs legal expenses,” the community knows where Thompson’s sympathies lie – even though the website has been recently doctored to remove his name.

Good for Paula Barone–she is an ethical and honest person–but I don’t think there would have been a problem had she not recused herself. This is a small community, and people are bound to know and interact with one another.
