MOUNT VERNON — The 2009 Dan Emmett Music and Arts Festival had a $500,000 impact on the local economy according to a report recently issued by festival director Pat Crow.

    Looking forward to reviewing the full report. This article leads me to believe some sizable liberties were taken in the estimates and statistics, but I’ll let that slide for now since the work is not shown here. I also doubt any estimates were included for the demonstrable loss of sales experienced by many regular downtown businesses. Finally, I hope no one mistakes “impact” for actual money generated for the local economy.
