Unlike Dr. Marschhausen, I hope that the new Superintendent feels that foul language in the schools are unacceptable, that cell phones should not be used in the classroom for updating Facebook, that clothing be appropriate without inappropriate content and that our students be encouraged to become good people who are interested in helping others. This world does not need great athletes or brilliant thinkers with questionable character. This world needs more people who are interested in making the world a better place through their acts of kindness. The facts are that East Knox does not have a reputation for these characteristics, just the opposite. This is one of the main reasons the tax levy failed. People do not want to throw good money after bad. I hope that the Board takes this opportunity to select a no nonsense person who will elevate the school district to the level that it is easily capable of obtaining – Greatness! We need to focus on raising good people with above board character, ethics and morals. This starts with the Superintendent demanding these same characteristics from its staff who, in turn, demand it of the students. It can be done. To sum it best – a majority of the students at East Knox do not like the environment of their school and want change. Let’s give them a school district they can be proud of! Let’s face it, if East Knox was a great school district Dr. Marschhausen would not want to leave it but, in fact, he wants better for his own children – so he leaves!
