MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon Dilapidated Buildings Commission took up a number of building issues at its June meeting, including Round Hill Mansion, also known as the Curtis Mansion. This stately and historic building has become a concern with many people because of its seemingly deteriorating condition.

    A guy once asked me why I talked his friend into buying a dump. Well, I had to be honest about it. Upon checking it out, I noted the home needed extensive utility repairs and at that moment, I needed something to do to make a buck.

    I’m not sure what our city administrators have in mind regarding this issue, but I suppose giving people the illusion that they really care sounds good.
