Tests ensure students have knowledge needed in life

MOUNT VERNON — Like it or not, students in Ohio's public schools must pass standardized tests in reading, math, writing, science and social studies in order to receive a high school diploma.

They ought to be testing the parents. Somehow I fear most of them have a lot of trouble with arithmetic and social skills.

“Tests ensure students have knowledge needed in life”?

What nonsense! What students / people need to know is how to take the available information, evaluate it, consider “what happens next?,” and then MAKE A DECISION. And, without doubt, there is often an emotional component of the decision-making process.

If only life were as simple as “A, B, C, or D (all of the above).”
