Roof collapse evacuates Fredericktown families

FREDERICKTOWN — Five Fredericktown families found themselves looking for a place to stay when the roof of their apartment building collapsed overnight, forcing firefighters to evacuate the building at 8 W. First St., on the corner of North Main and West First streets.

    Fredericktown, sure has been hit hard with this destruction and the huge fire. Looks like we are just loosing to much character in our small town.

    It just doesn’t pay to buy old buildings and try to keep them up when the prior owners secured the cheapest contractors to keep it rented. The only good thing about our state eliminating state inspectors is that you could find a lot of ways to cheat on safety regulations without taking people to dinners, or giving away tickets to sporting events.
