MOUNT VERNON — The season is ripe for fresh fruit and vegetables but no one likes dealing with pesky fruit flies that seem to pop out of nowhere when there is anything sweet out in the open.

This is the best trick to catch fruit flies. I do it all the time and it works. Pour about 1/2 cup cider vinegar and a few drops of liquid dish soap into a small bowl. By morning many of the fruit flies will be dead in the dish of vinegar/soap.

“household insecticides on the market that can get rid of fruit flies, but you really wouldn‚Äôt want to use [the spray] in the house‚Äù

    >household insecticides

Then it’s not household is it?
