Arts group questions theater rental fees

MOUNT VERNON — Intending to address options concerning the strain of increased costs, representatives with the local theater group MTVarts met with the Knox County Commissioners on Monday morning to discuss what changes might be made concerning their rental cost of the Mount Vernon Memorial Theater.

    Considering it seems to stay empty most of the the year, it would be in the best interest of the community to reduce the costs and increase attendance for local shows and events. The Memorial is such a beautiful theater that it just seems ridiculous for those who own, manage, invest…to not be willing to share the historical and aesthetic elements of this building.
