I know Zack Space personally; he comes from a family of politicians. His father was a judge; he married a judge. He is not very popular in his home county. He refuses to talk to his constituents, calls himself a Blue Dog, but votes with the liberal wing of his party. Remember how scarce he was during the health care town halls?

Jacob, please take off your tin foil hat and back away from the coffee pot before you have a stroke.

i believe his regional office is in Chillicothe. So why waste tax payers money by having two offices in his district? So what your asking him to do is spend more money to appease you.

So, he’s a phony because he didn’t get on the phone and call you? Who exactly are you, anyway? Get over yourself.

It’s not the location, buddy, it’s the organization sponsoring the debate.

In this case, a bunch of tea party types (you know, anti-Democratic, anti-tax, anti-government people) are “sponsoring” a debate and providing a house packed with like-minded individuals. Tell me how Space could expect fair questions from such a group. The invitation to these debates was not in good faith–it was a setup, a trap to make him decline and then provide fodder for complaints.

Perhaps I’ll call Gibbsie and ask him to come to my house for a debate. And when he declines, I’ll go to the media. He’s dodging!!!

I knew this guy was a phoney after I suggested to him to set up a regional office here in town and he never responded to that nor did his Democratic friends in city council.

He is up for debating at educational locations. What is not educational about the MVNU. I am sure he is returning to DC to do his work – while he is still in Congress. Hopefully that will end after the election in Nov. Of course he is not running away from debates. He is just strolling very fast so as not to have to explain his votes – and he will have trouble with that.

This article is somewhat misleading. It makes it look as though Space is running away from debates, even though he is planning to engage in debates–just not THESE debates. And I don’t fault his decision at all. For one thing, he is currently our representative, and this “debate” at MVNU was scheduled for right after Space is returning to Washington to do his work. Great timing. For another thing, the group scheduling this debate is an anti-Democratic, anti-Space group.

If the Knox County Democratic Party, for example, were to schedule a debate and stack the house with Democratic audience members, do we thing Gibbs would elect to show up? I don’t, and I also wouldn’t fault him for that. Debates need to be non-partisan in order to be effective. Otherwise, they are hollow, fraudulent events, designed to make one of the candidates look bad.
