It's fine if other countries burn our American Flag, burn our books, burn us Americans, but then liberial American's cry that the Quran will be burnt on our soil and it is not right? Explain that! Oh Freedom of Religion that's right, BUT....The United States was NOT built on the Muslim religion! It was built on Christianity. Tell the 2,605 people that died in the Twin Towers on 9/11 that the Quran is a good thing, tell the mother's, fathers, children, husbands and wives left behind from Flight 93 that the Quran is good. If you don't agree, then you are apart of this country's problem, take a slow boat to the Middle East and live there and support your America that everyone in the Middle East loves!

well stated; and the same for Mimi's stmt.
But please don't disregard the potential to our Enlisted staff there as well as those that have worked with the United States of America's military to build up their countries.
May God Bless America and keep our soldiers safe!

What about the people we must befriend to win/end this war and establish a working democratic government in Iraq and Afghanistan? I would think that, since these people are the majority and we need them to work with us, this preacher is a crackpot. Burning their holiest book seems counterproductive to America's longer-term interests in the region.

First and foremost after reading these comments I truly believe that EVERYONE needs to know the religion before quoting it. To quote a Quran and not be able to read arabic is trully wrong. The Quran has been translated to the translators understanding, not how it was actually written. Being able to speak and read in both English and Arabic, I have read the Quran and the Bible in their respective languages and in no where did I read the quotes above in the Quran. I think that people need to understand first that there is radical in all religions, and if you think about it, what has happened abroad has happened in the USA. There are bad apples and good apples, in every religion and in every culture, and country.

Religion is inert and can't be hateful. Adherents to said faiths can be hateful, much as many Christians can be quite hateful (see: Fred Phelps). Islam is no different. And by and large, American Muslims are more interested in peace. I really don't understand you people who have swallowed Fox News' lies about Islam. Where is your compassion and religious tolerance? As an atheist, I think all of you are crazy, but I believe in your right to be crazy as long as it does me no harm. Is Islam doing you any harm? Nope.

Diana,

I'm sure it can't be said enough, but the Islamic center was not ever proposed to be built at ground zero. And again, what most people forget is that there had been a prayer room in the WTC buildings. Horror of horrors! It is truly un-American to claim religious freedom applies to everyone except those you disagree with, unless, of course, you were happy with someone burning a copy of the Constitution?

Okay, all I have seen posted here is a tremendous amount of who is right and who is wrong
Yes, it really breaks my heart to see our Holy Bible, American Flag burned here and abroad and innocent lives lost. And yes, I can say that I have the freedom of speech to say that really peeves me.
However, what about potential danger that this entire issue has created for our military and American citizens abroad.
Two wrongs never make a right!
And furthermore, as a Christian I follow the last command of Christ - Love one another as I have LOVED you. Do any of you believe in the concept of do unto others as you would have them do undo to you? Not do unto others as they have done unto you?
In closing, there sure are a lot of issues that need IMMEDIATE ACTION here in the USA -
jobs, balance of power, transparency of government, border security, illegal immigration and the economy, gee can we add to this list? THINK SO and KNOW SO

As if that is any different than burning a bible. He'd be up in arms if someone did that, so how is it "just" that he treat others' religion as such. Every religion has their radicals (ironically, he is for Christianity) that does not mean EVERY member of that religion behaves in that manner.

We live in a really hateful world. Hate is something we don't have the power to stop. My personal belief is if this guy feels that he needs to try to burn the Quran to feel justice let him try, but he is a fool because there will always be someone to stop him, especially now that he has announced it to the world. What he doesn't realize is that this isn't going to justify anything because an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. The whole world has been blinded enough already.
