We've all witnessed people drive under the influence time and time and time again, despite jail and prison sentences - the sentence seems fitting for the "crime" - no one was killed - the civil penalties for injuries, etc. are set in stone, and the person is on probation (wherein drinking is forbidden) and if she breaks probation, she goes to jail. Her record will follow her everywhere - no matter what job she seeks, no matter what credit she applies for, etc.

In the end, I find the sentence fitting and appropriate.

Many talk on their cell phones while driving - which studies have shown to equate to a level of impaired driving, just as when drinking - should we charge those who are at fault in traffic accidents while talking on their cell phones with attempted murder and murder?

I think not.
