MOUNT VERNON — A 20-year hiatus must have been a good thing. Mount Vernon's Kim Boner had been a high school cross country runner at Cardington in the mid-1980s but didn't pursue running after that, at least not for a while.

Customers returning to stores on N. Main

MOUNT VERNON — Though the smell of smoke lingered in the air from Monday's fire at 201 S. Main St., several stores on the north side of downtown were able to open yesterday with some customers venturing in to shop.

Election Day nears

MOUNT VERNON — Five days remain until numerous candidates and issues will be decided on in the 2010 general election Tuesday, Nov. 2. Knox County residents can still elect to vote early, according to Kim Horn, director of the Knox County Board of Elections.
