Craft store opening in February

MOUNT VERNON — The phrase "coming soon" never sounded any better for craft enthusiasts.

    Interesting to see excitement about something “new” that was already here.

    There was a craft store in downtown Mount Vernon. People didn’t patronize it and it went out of business. There is a specific store for bead enthusiasts in downtown Mount Vernon. It will be closing its doors soon because people didn’t patronize it.

    The patron saint of cheapskates reduced the size of its craft department in Mount Vernon because not enough people bought craft items from them. I remember well the whining when that happened.

    I appreciate the fact that this smaller company – a regional chain – is willing to give Mount Vernon a shot. I hope it works out for them. But, if history is any indication – well, area residents have shown time and again they don’t value independent business people.

    Cookie-cutter foreign made crap and mass-produced reheated food are what you deserve.
