Veterans thrilled by Honor Flight experience

MOUNT VERNON — The chance of a lifetime came for many local veterans on Sept. 18 when they were treated to an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., to see the World War II Memorial and other landmarks at the nation's capital.

I myself have a DAD THAT IS A VETERAN AND IF I WERE THERE I WOULD HONOR HIM BY THIS GIFT OF A MEAL. HE HAS ALZHEIMERS FOR 9 YRS AND CANNOT GET OUT. IS THIS A WAY OF SHOWING OUR VETERANS. ?? CANNOT ONE SMALL TOWN LIKE MOUNT VERNON CONSIDER THIS GIFT????

Actually, Pamela, there have been ads ran in this paper and on the internet about free meals for our veterans.

Local schools are providing free breakfasts and having programs that honor our veterans.

I think you should read all the information before you saying Mount Vernon isn’t doing anything.

I thank your father and the countless other fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles, cousins and all of those that have served.
