As usual, our antiquated street department didn’t put out any ” BUMP AHEAD ” signs; didn’t repair the plethora of potholes until thousands of motorist damaged their suspensions; and finally patched holes during daylight traffic instead of night hours. The city of Mount Vernon is going to have serious automotive liability if they don’t bring the street department out of horse and buggy gear.

Sure, after allowing thousands of people ruin their suspension systems, the street department takes late action. In any other city of this size, action would have been taken a long time ago, and at night-time rather than during daytime traffic. Also, warning signs ” BUMP AHEAD” would have been placed until such repairs are completed. Soon, this city will have some serious liability issues if it doesn’t bring its street department up to speed.
