Harcourt Road gas station robbed Wednesday morning

MOUNT VERNON — An early morning armed robbery on Harcourt Road on Wednesday is under investigation by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Knox County Sheriff David Barber, a lone gunman entered Hot Rods convenience store and gas station at 700 Harcourt Road shortly after 3 a.m. on Wednesday demanding money. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Although the suspect displayed a handgun, no one was injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, medium build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information concerning this robbery is encouraged to contact Detective Sgt. Roger Brown at the sheriff’s office detective division at 740-393-6800.

New culvert pipe going in

An Ohio Department of Transportation crew made good progress in replacing the rusted out culvert pipe under Ohio 95. By Tuesday morning, the old pipe was out and this new 60-by-6-foot pipe was going in place. Ohio 95 will re-open Thursday morning.
