I think they should fine them much more than they currently are, these big 18 wheelers are coming up streets that were never meant to handle that kind of load. Look at Edgewood between 229 and Marita dr it is a mess of pot holes and crumbling edges due to the severe winter and the amount of semis that are using this area as a shortcut to Walmart Kmart Kroger etc. They might blame GPS or lack of signs but come on the signs are plain where 36 ends on E High and curves to Coshocton Ave. The City can't afford to constantly fill in or replace that asphalt. The measure the city and the police are not enough. The police should stop sitting around in church parking lots and start patrolling or go back to the station and save the tax payers some money by turning off the car.

I think the idea to route trucks on Chesnut Street instead of High Street is a great idea. It keeps trucks out the the East High Street area and also makes the entire route through town on 36 a almost straight shot, only two and a half turns each way (half for the slight turn at the end of Coshocton Ave.) As for Nancy Vails comment about trucks interfering with Church services....hello, dose Mrs Vail not know that there are already trucks turning at the corner of Gay and Chesnut street as it is?

Personally I feel they should contact some of the trucking companies in town and ask for advice on this project. Everything looks good on paper. But for it actually to work and be functional for the truck and local traffic is another thing. Any of the employees at Richard Wolfe Trucking would be more than happy to help them with this project!

Personally I feel they should contact one or all of the larger trucking companies in town Richard Wolfe Trucking, Inc., Richert, or UPI and ask for help with this situation. Everything looks good on paper. I don't think they realize how hard it is to get around Mount Vernon in a Semi. Any of the staff at Richard Wolfe Trucking would be more than happy to help them with this project!
