With gas prices $4 and above in Mount Vernon, here is some information from our archives and the Associated Press
John McBride of Mount Vernon found himself facing $3.45 when he pulled into Speedway to refill his gas tank on Tuesday. He said he is retired and relies on Social Security benefits and the rising gas prices make it tough on him and his wife to get by.
Summer gasoline prices are here again, with local prices for regular gasoline as high as $2.85 per gallon this past weekend. Although nobody likes the price spike, it was not entirely unexpected as gasoline prices typically go up for the summer.
As gasoline prices climb, small businesses that rely on transportation have to keep a close eye on what it costs them to deliver their products. And as the price of a gallon of regular gas closes in on $4 and the possibility of $5 looms for the summer, businesses are feeling the pinch.
